I Need Mandarin Chinese and Spanish in Exchange for My English

Hi everyone. My name is Nathan. I study Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, and I desperately need native speakers of those languages with whom I can have spoken conversation. I want to communicate vocally because I need to practice speaking, so please be willing to talk through Skype! It is not a requirement that we do video Skype, but I do prefer we use the audio function so that I can practice my speaking skills.

In exchange for helping me, I can help you improve your English. When I worked with people learning English in the past, we had success reading news articles and sections of books together. That allowed me to hear their pronunciation of certain words and then to correct them and allowed them to familiarize themselves with new words. We could try that as one learning method. However, the way we practice English really is up to you.

I like to keep the conversations fun, friendly, and comfortable for everyone participating. I do not discriminate on any basis. Founded in 2000, MADRIDBABEL® ( http://www.madridbabel.es ) is an international cultural exchange group that organizes a lot of activities in Madrid. Its main mission is to encourage and provide the opportunity to practice a wide range of languages amongst people from all over the world as well as create a comfortable venue to make new acquaintances in Madrid. Currently it has more than 25,000 members belonging to its different forums, the most important ones being at Yahoo ( http://es.groups.yahoo.com/group/madridbabel ) and Facebook( http://www.facebook.com/groups/19732127016 ). A detailed program of activities is published on these pages on a weekly basis.

MadridBabel organizes two weekly international encounters at Café Galdós (Los Madrazo 10 – metro Sevilla):

· Wednesdays starting at 20:30
· Sundays starting at 19.00

The environment is friendly and welcoming and there is no entrance fee. Fran Rodríguez Veiga – creator and leader of the group from Madrid – and his collaborators are there to introduce people who share common interests and/or languages and help create a comfortable welcome for newcomers. Language tandems in Girona. Language exchanges

The Girona Official Language School (EOI Girona) organizes language tandems for those who want to practice foreign languages. The languages offered in EOI Girona are German, English, Arabic, Catalan, Spanish for foreigners, French, Italian and Russian.

According to Wikipedia, a tandem language learning is a method of language learning based on mutual language exchange between tandem partners. In addition, a language tandem will help you to make new friends from around the world and have fun.

EOI Girona offers the chance to get involve in a tandem as there are several students from around the world enrolled in the school. If you are interested in a language tandem, you must visit the EOI Girona Facebook page. Then follow these steps:

• Write a message in the wall specifying the language you offer and the language you wish to practice.
• Check the messages by other users and send a private message to those who you think would be suitable to do a language exchange with.
• If you have compatible timetables and you think it can work, set a weekly routine in order to meet up and practise the two languages.
• DO NOT post your private personal details such as mobile number or email. A Facebook private message will do. 

If you live in Girona or nearby, this is a great chance to meet people and enjoy learning a foreign language.

Practice Brazilian Portuguese in Barcelona

Not long ago, a message was published on the Language exchange in Barcelona on Babelan. It's a new language group in Barcelona to practice Portuguese, Spanish and Catalan.

They meet in the neighbourhood of La Barceloneta, in the Bistro Bar (calle Maquinista, 42) near plaza del mercado. They gather every Monday, from 20 to 22 h. And as they state, they meet to chat, have a beer, exchange information, laugh, have fun... This is a chance to practice languages, share experiences of different cultures and make new friends.
